Position: Food Safety & Quality Lead
Location: Mississauga (Hybrid)
Salary: $80,000 + bonus

Overview
This role reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for overseeing and executing the company's Food Safety and Quality Management Program, ensuring compliance with BRC, GFSI, and regulatory standards. This is a highly hands‑on position, with a strong focus on day‑to‑day quality control activities while maintaining audit readiness and certification requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the Food Safety & Quality Management System in line with regulatory and certification standards.
- Lead all internal, external, and customer audits, including preparation, execution, and follow‑up on corrective actions.
- Perform daily quality control activities across receiving, storage, and distribution processes.
- Review and approve product releases, documentation, and certificates of analysis (COAs).
- Investigate quality issues, deviations, and customer complaints, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure GMPs and food safety practices are consistently followed on the floor.
- Oversee supplier compliance, including documentation review and qualification processes.
- Support traceability programs, recall readiness, and mock recall exercises.
- Train staff on food safety procedures, SOPs, and quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a strong food safety culture.
Qualifications
- Post‑secondary education in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- 3‑5 years of experience in food safety and quality within food or related industries.
- Experience supporting or leading BRC/GFSI (or equivalent) audits.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety systems.
- Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a hands‑on, operational environment.
