We are looking to hire an Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager for a great distribution client located in Concord.
Reporting to the Regional CFO, The Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations for the company's 2 business units (Canada and USA) and providing guidance on strategic financial decisions for the company's financial health. This is a working and hands-on Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager role, and he/she will be required to foster strong working relationships with the existing team and prioritize and manage tasks to meet deadlines and business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, payroll, Accounts Payable, Account Receivable and Statutory Reporting.
- Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures.
- Perform necessary treasury and banking activities including entries and reconciliations in different currencies.
- Complete sales tax reports and declarations.
- Complete inventory booking, control and costing in addition to all necessary journal entries and adjustments.
- Track actual costs vs budget each period and prepare financial reports, key indicator and trend reports, analyses and recommendations.
- Perform journal entries of payroll for all company employees (payroll, benefits, taxes etc.).
- Ensure rapid and consistent collection of receivables by refining and implementing control mechanisms.
- Complete monthly/quarterly/yearly full financial statement closing and reporting including but are not limited to inventory reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets depreciations, budgeting, etc.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting.
- Be responsible for accuracy and timelines of financial information.
- Assist in the hiring, training, mentoring and supervising accounting staff.
- Support the management in general office administration.
- Participate in special project/tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree
- CPA designation or at final stage of CPA designation required
- 5+ years experience in full cycle/general accounting and administration
- 2+ years of experience in a supervisory/team lead capacity
- Experience using SAP S/4 HANA preferred
- Knowledge of full cycle AP cycle (Vendors invoices/credit notes entries and payments) and supervision
- Knowledge of full cycle AR (Customers invoice, credit notes entries and payments, collection calls) and supervision
- Experienced with treasury and banking activities and reconciliations
- Experienced with sales tax reports and declarations
- Experienced with inventory booking, control and costing
- Experienced with month end/quarter end/ year end closings and preparation of financial statements/package
- Exposure to working with intercompany transfers and multiple currencies/FX preferred
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Previous experience working in a distribution environment is an asset
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, including
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
