Overview
Position Summary: As a Supply Planner at Martin Brower Canada, you will be primarily responsible for working with our supplier, logistics, distribution, and client partners to ensure a continuous flow of product through the supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Position Responsibilities May Include, But Not Limited To Reporting into the Team Lead, Supply Planning, this role is fundamental to ensuring the restaurants we serve have product available when and where they need it, enabling them to feed millions of Canadians every week. Key activities associated with this role include:
- Assured Supply
- Collaborate with supplier partners to purchase raw materials and schedule production to meet our forecasts (plus safety stock and contingency supply)
- Release purchase orders and partner with our logistics team and distribution centres to ensure they arrive and are received on time
- Monitor inventory levels and demand trends; adjust purchase orders accordingly
- Understand the specific needs of each distribution centre and plan supply accordingly
- Review planned promotional activities to determine impact on product lines, keeping supplier partners and other stakeholders informed, and manage inventories accordingly
- Develop & execute contingency plans with our client and supplier network
- Product/Category Management
- Foster positive and productive relationships with supplier partners, internal stakeholders, and our client
- Work within our ERP systems to ensure each SKU is set up for optimal inventory flow
- Develop market entry/exit plans for new/old products in consultation with our client, distribution centres, and other stakeholders
- Log all non-budgeted expenditures; prioritize cost-avoidance
- Manage disposal, return, and/or donation of nonsalable inventories
- Proactive, Metrics-Based Planning
- Maintain a heavy focus on our key performance indicators (forecast accuracy, order modification, reliability, etc.) and on what you can do to improve them
- Meet with supplier partners regularly to discuss and align on forecasted demand, production capacities, quality assurance, planned shutdowns, etc.
- Provide detailed, ad-hoc analyses on product/program performance to assist with business decisions
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement within your portfolio of products; innovate measurable solutions that move the business forward
- Other projects and duties, as assigned
Qualifications
- Required Skills and Experience:
- Post-secondary education in supply chain, business, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in purchasing, inventory control, supply planning, or a related field
- Better-than-average Excel skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- This position must pass a post-offer background check
- Preferred Skills And Experience
- Knowledge of transportation/logistics
- Supply chain designation (CSCMP, CIM, etc.)
- Lean Six Sigma certification or similar
- Experience with inventory management and/or supply planning ERPs
- Experience in the foodservice industry
