Northern Access Legal Clinic - Supervising Lawyer

The Northern Access Legal Clinic is pleased to announce the establishment of a new non-profit, pro-bono legal clinic in Prince George, BC aimed at serving communities across Northern BC. The Northern Access Legal Clinic is currently recruiting for a full-time Clinic Supervising Lawyer to join our team of professionals. The Northern Access Legal Clinic is committed to providing access to justice to Northern area by providing free quality legal services and education to the community with a trauma informed approach. The organization is committed to a client-centered approach for removing barriers to justice for gender diverse individuals, indigenous communities and other marginalized communities. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Clinic Supervising Lawyer will be joining a team responsible for managing the staffs at Northern Access Legal Clinic and providing free legal services to the Prince George area where the office is located.

The Clinic Supervising Lawyer will conduct client intake and interviews, attend court, research, establish and conduct public legal education sessions including by webinar. The Clinic Supervising Lawyer will supervise an Articling Student(s) and will review draft pleadings, legal research memos and correspondence prepared by the Articling student. The Clinic Supervising Lawyer will work in primarily in the following areas of law: human rights, employment, judicial reviews, small claims, debt claims, and other areas of law as needed.

Candidates must be a member or be eligible to be a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and must possess a LL.B, JD or NCA. A minimum of three years experience in a similar role with demonstrated experience and knowledge of Human Rights law, employment law and judicial reviews. Immigration law experience would be an asset. Experience in working with marginalized communities and Clio would be beneficial. A full privilege Driver's License for the Province of BC is required.

Compensation - $90,000 to $110,000 annual plus pension and extended health benefits

All successful candidate(s) will be required to have a Police Information Check (PIC) as a condition of employment
(Note - Not required as part of the application process, however, a PIC will be required upon consideration for employment).

These positions are based on 35 hours per week and will primarily be Monday to Friday. On occasion, candidates may be required to work the occasional evening and/or weekend. The successful candidate will work from our downtown office, with the option to work remotely as appropriate.
