Construction Manager 2 - NCTL

What you'll do
Provide Senior Construction and Contract Management direction and supervision.
Directs and supervises a mixed unit of BC Hydro Construction Managers, Construction officers, support staff and/or
external consultants in the fields of construction management, contract management and commissioning
- Ensures that all phases of construction work and associated activities related to assigned projects is planned and carried
out efficiently and effectively in terms of safety, quality, schedule, cost and scope
Provides leadership and ensures employee safety
Ensures adequate resources are in place to meet multi-year project and program plans
Provides technical guidance and ensures adequate technical reviews are completed as required
Assists in the development of business unit objectives, quality assurance standards, customer needs, and performance
measurements and assists in managing the construction management division operational performance to meet these
objectives and client servicing needs
- Conducts "Constructability Reviews" of projects throughout various phases in the project life-cycle and reviews contract
tender documents
Provides input to the public consultation process as it pertains to construction site activities and issues
As "Hydro's Representative", manages construction and equipment installation contracts, ensuring the successful
completion of the contract work in an orderly and timely manner
- Negotiates work changes and equitable adjustment requests or makes ruling on disputes between BC Hydro and the
contractor
Investigates and resolves claims on BC Hydro's behalf
Conducts regular construction site visits to provide support to employees/external resources and to ensure all applicable
protocols, procedures, policies, standards, regulations, etc. are being met.
What you bring
- Degree or diploma in civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering fields. Extensive on-the-job experience and
training with a forestry or trade certificate will also be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years progressive experience managing complex projects and/or contracts.
- Skilled in contract management, risk mitigation, and stakeholder engagement, including First Nations partnerships and
supplier relationships.
- Previous senior management experience is a strong asset.
- Experience in access and RoW clearing, substation, and high voltage transmission line construction, is a strong asset.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, communications, negotiating, project management, planning and organizational
skills.
- Must have the ability to relate and discuss issues with a range of professionals from trades to senior management.
- Proficient with MS Office including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must hold and maintain a valid Class 5 driver's license.

This project includes multiple work locations, including but not limited to Prince George, Burns Lake, Telkwa, Smithers,
Terrace, and potential camp sites situated along the project footprint. If the successful candidate is not living in Prince
George, a project-based shift schedule may apply.
