Summary And Value Of The Role
The Senior Accountant is a critical contributor to the financial health and operational rhythm of the business. Reporting to the Controller, this role will take a high level of responsibility for day-to-day accounting operations, support financial planning and analysis, and ensure accurate, timely reporting including tax compliance reporting. This is a hands-on role for someone who is technically strong, systems-minded, and comfortable operating with evolving aspects of a business that is growing internationally and embracing process and compliance aspects that come along with that.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Be heavily involved in month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, cash management, and general ledger activities
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure reporting accuracy
  • Coordinate with external accountants and support year end processes

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans in partnership with the Controller
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support operational decision-making including related to monthly dashboard reporting for internal stakeholders
  • Identify financial risks and performance trends and bring forward recommendations

Systems, Data & Process

  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial data across systems
  • Support the implementation and optimization of the company's ERP system
  • Assess and improve accounting processes to support scalability and growth
  • Maintain clear documentation of financial processes and controls
  • Leverage data and reporting tools to improve financial visibility and decision support.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and standards
  • Maintain and strengthen internal control procedures
  • Support external reporting and regulatory requirements as needed

Education/Experience
Qualifications, skills, and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA designation (completed or near completion) strongly preferred
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards
  • Demonstrated ownership of month-end close and financial statement preparation
  • Significant experience in data analysis including Excel/Google Sheets and data visualization tools
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Experience with corporate tax provisions, sales tax considerations and general awareness of corporate income tax matters
  • Experience working in a project-based, manufacturing, or custom-build environment is an asset
  • Experience implementing an ERP/accounting systems is also an asset

  • Strong technical accounting foundation
  • Analytical, with strong data analysis skills resulting in the ability to translate numbers into practical insight and in a visually effective manner
  • Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy
  • Comfort with researching considerations for income and sales tax considerations of global business transactions
  • Systems-minded and comfortable working through process change
  • Clear communicator who collaborates effectively across teams
