Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced, semi-retired Heavy Equipment Operator who is looking to stay active in the industry while mentoring the next generation of operators. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with extensive hands-on experience operating and teaching safe operation of:
- Grader
- Dozer
- Excavator
- Loader
- Scraper
The successful candidate will serve as a mentor and trainer, ensuring equipment is operated safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on training and mentorship to new and junior operators
- Demonstrate safe and efficient operation of graders, dozers, excavators, and loaders
- Reinforce daily inspection procedures and preventative maintenance practices
- Monitor operator performance and provide constructive feedback
- Assist in developing operator competency checklists and training materials
- Promote and enforce safe work practices and hazard awareness
- Support field supervisors with operator evaluations and skill development
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of heavy equipment operating experience
- Proven experience operating grader, dozer, excavator, and loader
- Strong understanding of jobsite safety standards and hazard management
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or training operators
- Valid driver's license (Class 1 or 3 considered an asset)
- Strong communication skills and patience working with newer operators
- COR and safety program familiarity considered an asset
