The RM of East St Paul, with the support of government grants targeted to youth, is recruiting for summer_ Recreation Technician positions_ to work from June through to August/early September.**
**ALL OPEN POSITIONS ARE DEPENDENT UPON FUNDING**
Job Type: Summer (June – August/early September)
Hours/Days of Work – 40 hours/week. Generally Monday – Friday with the requirement to also work a rotating schedule which includes Sundays.
Work Location – 266 Hoddinott Road

Candidates MUST;
· Be between the ages of 18 years – 29 years (as per Grant Funding Requirements)
· Possess a valid class 5 driver's license
· have a valid Social Insurance Number and be eligible to work in Canada
· be able to attend work regularly, punctually
· be available to work a variety of hours, which may include daytime, evenings and weekends

Duties:
Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator, the summer Recreation Technician will; help to plan and develop the children's day program, assist in the delivery of the program and associated activities, support the weekly East St. Paul Farmers Market, and provide general support to the RM.
· Provide active, hands-on supervision to ensue camper safety and well-being.
· Care for, supervise and engage children enrolled in the camp program.
· Understand campers dietary, medical, and individual needs.
· Be respectful to campers and other staff to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment,
· Lead and actively engage campers in daily routines and scheduled activities throughout the day.
· Assist in camper sign-in and sign-out while communicating with families.
· Build positive relationships and provide ongoing communication/leadership with campers, families, staff and volunteers.
· Maintain accurate records and complete incident reports as needed.
· Respect the rights of confidentiality and privacy in all matters affecting or involving the program and/or service.
· Assist in the planning, development, set-up and take-down, and deliver camp programs and activities.
· Work collaboratively with fellow camp leaders to ensure effective supervision and high-quality
programming by assisting with planning, setup, delivery, and take-down of activities and spaces,
while providing constructive feedback to support continuous program improvement.
· Communicate operational needs, concerns, or issues to the Summer Camp Lead or Recreation Coordinator.
· Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.
· Know, observe, implement and respect all RM and Camp Policies.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Grade 12 education, with post-secondary education related to childcare/child development considered an asset.
· Demonstrated recreational programming experience and/or teaching children in a camp, group, or school setting.
· Experience working with children (preferably ages 5 – 12).
· Emergency First Aid & Level C CPR certificate is considered an asset.
· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registration Check.
· Valid Province of Manitoba Class Five (5) Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
· Ability to coordinate, organize, and problem-solve.
· Strong people skills; friendly, cooperative, energetic, and responsible.
· Effective customer service and teamwork skills.
· Ability to communicate respectfully, with tact and diplomacy.
· Physically capable of participating in activities such as; hiking, running, swimming, and physical games.
· The ability to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of temperatures and weather conditions.
· Ability to attend work regularly, and punctually and work a variety of hours, including Sundays.
