Position Summary
The Facilities Shift Manager is a hands-on manager responsible for ensuring that all buildings, structures and properties, and equipment are in good working order and visually appealing at all times. This includes the ticket plaza and the group booth, the lower landing, administrative offices, warehouses, vehicles, elevators, and funicular.
The Facilities Shift Manager will conduct preventative, corrective, emergency, cosmetic and routine maintenance including painting, cleaning, repairing, renovating, and remodeling when required.

Duties And Responsibilities
- As the on-duty Shift Manager, ensures the safe and reliable operation of all systems, machinery, and equipment under their care with due regard for the Niagara City Cruises (NCC) ISO Respect Management System (RMS)
- Ensures the General Maintenance Technicians, General Maintenance Cleaners, and Environmental Service Agents are working safely and efficiently and provides regular feedback regarding their performance to the Manager, Facilities
- Reports any and all concerns with personnel and equipment to the Manager, Facilities
- Ensures work is completed and equipment is maintained in accordance with regulatory and contractual requirements, including the T.S.S.A., and Transport Canada
- Drive company truck or other vehicle to deliver ponchos from warehouse to site as well as other deliveries
- Use company truck and other equipment to maintain road and site in winter
- Use fork lift, telehandler and aerial work platforms as required
- Assists the Manager, Facilities with project planning and execution
- Provides assistance and direction to contractors as required
- Routinely inspects all equipment and areas of the facilities for unsafe conditions
- Communicates updates on equipment repairs, shutdowns, and restarts to appropriate parties
- Maintains a high level of customer service
- Completes start up and shut down procedures
- Assists in accidents investigations and reports
- Participates in emergency drills in accordance with regulatory, contractual, and ISO RMS requirements
- Participates in safety meetings in conformance with NCC policy, to ensure a routinely efficient and safe operation at all times and the proper use of equipment during any possible emergency
- Maintains logs, paying particular attention to proper recording of incidents and irregularities
- Utilizes maintenance software to schedule and log maintenance tasks
- Maintains inventory of spares and consumables
- Prepares reports for review by the Manager, Facilities
- Operate the funicular as required
- Ensures a clean workplace throughout the day, at the beginning and end of shifts
- Performs various duties such as cleaning, painting, and troubleshooting issues
- Reports non-conformities to the Manager, Facilities
- Ensures the safe and efficient operation of the business at all times using all available means
- Supports Marine, Guest Services, Food & Beverage, IT, and all other departments as required
- Adheres to all health and safety regulations
- Works with a safety mindset by following all safety policies, procedures and safety measures (i.e. PPE). Identifies and brings forward risks, hazards and opportunities on the job. Actively participates in health and safety in the workplace
- Maintains a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (refer to appearance standards in employee handbook)
- Reports to work on time and for all scheduled shifts
- Understands all Niagara City Cruises policies and procedures relating to the employee's role within the company
- Maintains any applicable licenses and certifications
- Completes any other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
- O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education
- Valid Canadian driver's license
- Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in facilities, maintenance operations or equivalent
- General knowledge of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems
- Fork lift, Aerial work platform, Working at Heights and Confined Space certification an asset
- WHMIS (training provided)
- Working knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out Systems
- Strong problem solving &skills
- Ability to continually and repeatedly perform functions indoors and outdoors
- Must be willing to work all shifts including days/evenings shifts including weekend and holidays
- Experience with ISO compliance & standards considered an asset
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move, or lift up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms)
- Walk, stand, sit and work in all types of weather conditions for extended periods
- Wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. safety glasses, hard hat, safety shoes, gloves, weather appropriate attire, sun protection) as required
