Job Description
Reporting directly to the Manager of Human Resources, the Training Specialist will be accountable for developing and maintaining a sustainable training system centered around Our Values for all employees at the Irving Tissue Dieppe site.
This position will oversee the development and utilization of training materials, curriculum, skill assessments, and training tracking systems. This role is instrumental in promoting and sustaining the Irving Culture at the site and key for production performance. The Training Specialist will work closely with department leadership to help promote a positive employee experience through the development and execution of departmental training plans.
The Training Specialist will remain in contact with Corporate Training Leaders/Directors to ensure the Dieppe site is always aligned with other businesses within JDI.
Responsibilities
- Develop training materials and curriculum.
- Utilize technology to deliver effective and organized training experience to all employees.
- Facilitate the scheduling and planning for training needs across departments in collaboration with Departmental Training Lead (including ERT requirements).
- Support in scheduling on‑site external training requirements for on‑the‑job, equipment, Health & Safety, etc.
- Research new technology and new ways to learn. Work with other sites and organizational leaders to share and facilitate new ways of learning.
- Continually research methods and techniques in workplace training and remain up‑to‑date on developments within the industry and competitors.
- Facilitate training for employees when new equipment is installed. Handle gathering and organization of materials, including information from factory acceptance testing, from the OEM to reduce the startup curve of new equipment on site.
Qualifications
- Post Secondary Certification/Diploma
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong training‑focused or industrial skills‑development component.
- An understanding of the manufacturing process is a plus.
- Must understand adult learning techniques and have a demonstrated track record of applying these techniques in previous work history.
