Are you interested in joining ECC to facilitate policy development or program implementation related to land management and administration? ECC is looking for a seasoned professional with a background in policy development or program implementation to support the co-development and implementation of new land management processes and policy.

This dynamic and challenging role includes substantial engagement within the Department, with other GNWT Departments, and with Indigenous Governments and Indigenous Organizations. The Strategic Analyst, Sustainability will support and enhance the GNWT¿s role in managing and administering public land in the interests of all northerners, including being involved in, or leading, projects that are grounded in reconciliation.

You will play a critical role in the operation of the Sustainability Unit by functioning as an effective advocate in advancing GNWT lands related interests; providing expert advice and counsel on land use and management; supporting the development, and implementation and reporting on the GNWT's Land Use and Sustainability Framework and Northern Lands - Northern Leadership.

Some Key Responsibilities:

  • Development, review, evaluation, and implementation of ECC policies and strategic initiatives.
  • Develops, reviews, evaluates program and operational lands policies, standards and guidelines, and procedures.
  • Policy related duties within the Land Use and Sustainability Division.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the theory and practice related to land management and administration, environmental management, socio economic research and analysis, strategic analysis, policy development and program evaluation.
Some of the key qualifications include:

  • Strong and effective communication and negotiation skills in a cross cultural environment.
  • Excellent research, and analytical skills.
  • A master's degree in Environmental/Resource Management, Land Use Planning, Geography, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience in policy and program development and analysis.
  • Other related education fields can include: Arts or Science Degrees with a focus on policy and program development in Land Management or Administration.
  • Equivalencies can include:
  • A bachelor's degree in Environmental/Resource Management, Land Use Planning, Geography, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field, plus five (5) years of experience in policy and program development and analysis.
  • A diploma in Environmental/Resource Management, Land Use Planning, Geography, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field, plus seven (7) years of experience in policy and program development and analysis.
