Job Description: We are on the hunt for a visionary Sous Chef who is ready to lead in an authentic farm-to-table kitchen. As our Sous Chef, you will be at the forefront of our mission to foster the relationship between our farm and restaurant, working with local ingredients to showcase the essence of each season. You'll have the opportunity to shape new, unique guest experiences and explore how cooking can be a force for positive change in our world.
Responsibilities:
- Lead by example in embracing our farm-to-table philosophy, championing the use of local ingredients and seasonal produce in every dish.
- Cultivate and nurture the relationship between our restaurant and Oak Knoll Farm, collaborating closely with our farmers to source the freshest ingredients.
- Collaborate with the Kitchen Manager to develop innovative menus that highlight the flavours of the season and showcase the bounty of our region.
- Play a key role in creating memorable guest experiences, by bringing creativity and passion to every aspect of the dining journey.
- Mentor and inspire kitchen staff, fostering a culture of learning, growth, and excellence in culinary craftsmanship.
- Embrace our commitment to sustainability and explore how cooking can contribute to leaving the earth better than we found it, whether through waste reduction initiatives or exploring alternative cooking methods.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a leadership role in a kitchen environment.
- Passion for working with local ingredients and a deep respect for the connection between food, farmers, and the land.
- Creative flair and a desire to push culinary boundaries, creating memorable dining experiences for our guests.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Commitment to sustainability and a desire to explore how cooking can be a force for positive change.
Reports to: The Sous Chef reports to the Kitchen General Manager, but also takes direction from the FOH General Manager
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
