Your Role as a Supported Independent Living Support Worker
As an SIL Support Worker, you will provide one to one support in people's homes and in the community. You will typically meet with two to four individuals during a shift, focusing on practical skill building, community access, and person centered support that aligns with each individual's plan.
What You Will Do
- Connect individuals with community resources such as food banks, clothing supports, and other services
- Attend and support individuals at medical and other appointments
- Support medication routines according to policy and direction
- Assist with grocery shopping, meal planning, meal preparation, and cooking
- Support learning and practicing transportation skills such as taking the bus
- Support bill payments and money management in alignment with the individual's plan
- Support individuals to access and maintain productive roles such as employment, volunteering, and programs
- Help individuals access programs, services, and community activities
- Participate in recreational activities such as skating, swimming, and community events
- Facilitate group programming opportunities when scheduled
- Support cleaning and maintaining a home environment
- Provide emotional support, encouragement, and skill coaching
- Offer crisis support and follow established response procedures when required
Team Support
- Work closely with other support workers and team leaders to ensure support plan goals are met
- Communicate clearly, document accurately, and share updates to support consistent, coordinated care
Schedule and Work Environment
- Shifts run between the hours of 09:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
- Support is provided seven days per week
- Open availability is welcomed
- Hours are scheduled based on individual needs and team scheduling

What You Need to Bring
Required Certifications and Documents
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Current Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Screen completed within the last 6 months
- Adult and Child Abuse Registry Checks completed within the last 6 months
- Current Driver's Abstract
- Valid Manitoba Driver's License Class 5F
Transportation Requirement
- Access to a reliable vehicle for use during all shifts
Education and Experience
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Experience in Supported Independent Living or supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities is an asset, but not required
- Training will be provided to applicants who demonstrate the right attitude, reliability, and commitment to ethical support
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $17.65-$19.68 per hour
