Job Description

Burnside Truck Centre (BTC), a member of the Cherubini Group of Companies, is a full-service heavy trucking repair facility with dedicated automotive service bays. We proudly service the general public, commercial fleets, and Cherubini’s internal fleet of vehicles.

We are seeking a Service Manager to join our team.

This might be the role for you if you're a service-first leader who takes a proactive approach to building relationships, developing business, and strengthening customer partnerships. You get excited about looking ahead, identifying opportunities, and growing the business rather than waiting for the phone to ring.

What you'll focus on

Customer Relationships & Service Growth

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owner-operators, fleets, and industry partners

  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience with a service-first mindset

  • Actively identify opportunities to grow service revenue and improve customer retention

  • Communicate repair scope, timelines, and value clearly and professionally

  • Navigate dealership management systems and external fleet management platforms

Operational & Strategic Leadership

  • Bring an entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on growth, opportunity identification, and long-term sustainability

  • Support daily service operations alongside the technical foreman and shop team

  • Drive workflow efficiency, scheduling, and work order progression

  • Monitor operational and financial performance, including labour utilization, margins, and productivity

  • Proactively identify gaps in process, staffing, and workflow and implement practical, solutions-oriented improvements

  • Think beyond day-to-day firefighting and contribute to the long-term evolution of the business

  • Partner with leadership to explore new service offerings, customer segments, and operational efficiencies

Team Development

  • Provide coaching and leadership to service staff and support a positive team environment

  • Support recruitment efforts for hard-to-fill skilled trades roles and contribute innovative strategies to attract and retain top technical talent

  • Contribute to a culture that retains strong performers and reduces turnover

  • Understand the financial drivers of the service department

  • Support budgeting, pricing discussions, and profitability initiatives

  • Use dealership systems and performance data to drive accurate work order processing, approvals, billing, and informed decision-making

What you'll bring to BTC

  • Experience leading or supervising within a heavy-duty truck, trailer, automotive, or related service environment

  • Strong customer relationship skills with the ability to build trust with owner-operators and fleet clients

  • A solutions-oriented mindset: you look for root causes and long-term improvements rather than quick fixes

  • Financial awareness, including understanding labour efficiency, margins, and service department performance metrics

  • Confidence communicating with customers, technicians, and senior leadership

  • Ability to balance operational detail with strategic thinking

  • Experience with IntelliDealer and third-party fleet management providers (e.g., ARI, Element, Jim Pattison Leasing) is considered an asset

What we offer

  • The opportunity to lead and grow a service operation with strong community roots and the backing of a well-established, diversified organization

  • Autonomy and trust: the ability to make decisions and influence the direction of the department

  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience

  • Employee Assistance Program and mental health supports

  • Discounted gym membership

  • A supportive, family-oriented culture with long-term growth opportunities within the Cherubini Group of Companies
