In the role of Substation Project Engineer, you will be:
- Lead and manage the design and execution of station-related projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Develop and review project scopes, budgets, and schedules; monitor progress and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including contractors, regulatory bodies, and consultants, to facilitate project delivery.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential challenges and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure that all engineering work adheres to the client’s safety standards, environmental policies, and quality assurance protocols.
- Prepare and present technical reports and project documentation to management and stakeholders.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and stakeholder consultations to ensure alignment and clear communication.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve engineering processes and project outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering Degree
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in project engineering within the utilities or energy sector, with a focus on substations or power systems.
- Strong understanding of regulatory codes and standards, including CSA, NESC, and ANSI / IEEE
- Perform QA/QC of electrical engineering design packages.
- Provide regular progress updates and reporting on project deliverables.
- Provide engineering and technical support, and reviews to field crews during construction.
- Proven experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
The compensation for this role is an hourly rate, Independent Contractor or Employee Hourly, $75-100/hour DOE. This role would be based in Kelowna office with site visits and travel to Trail, BC.
