OpTalent on behalf of a leading engineering firm specializing in building servicesÂWe are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: London, OntarioÂ
Your Role:
As a senior member of the electrical team, you will take the lead on projects of all scales and complexities. Your responsibilities will include:
• Reviewing, approving, and stamping electrical design projects.
• Directing design strategies and developing solutions for complex electrical systems,
including:
o Power distribution and generation systems
o Indoor and outdoor lighting and lighting control systems
o Fire alarm systems
o Voice/data communications, security/CCTV, public address, nurse call, and related
infrastructure
• Providing technical leadership and mentorship within the electrical team.
• Leading audits, feasibility assessments, and investigations, and preparing detailed reports.
• Supporting the continuous improvement of electrical design standards and best practices.
• Participating in site visits, troubleshooting construction issues, and coordinating solutions with contractors and clients.
• Preparing project documentation, liaising with clients, contractors, and sales teams, and
coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
• Other responsibilities as required to support project success.
What You Bring:
The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise, leadership experience, and a collaborative mindset. Specifically, you will bring:
• Extensive design experience for complex electrical and fire alarm systems across multiple sectors, including multi-unit residential, healthcare, commercial, industrial, and
institutional projects.
• Hands-on exposure to troubleshooting on-site control issues.
• Experience with medium and/or high voltage systems is an asset.
• Comprehensive knowledge of codes and standards, including OBC, OESC, CSA, and other relevant standards.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Ontario with 10+ years of design experience in the building construction industry, including at least 5 years of Canadian design experience.
• Proactive problem-solving skills and strong ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and team development skills, with a collaborative
approach.
