This is an exciting opportunity to join the Savage Arms team. The Buyer will be responsible for a range of duties including but not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
Supplier selection and negotiations
Purchase of parts/raw materials for production/MRO
Reduce overall costs of inventory and purchased parts through cost saving initiatives such as VA/VE
Ensures continued supply of product to support a fast-paced production facility
Manage engineering changes as they relate to raw materials to ensure programs are implemented in a timely fashion
Takes a leadership role when dealing with vendors, customers and staff to accomplish department objective
Analyzes material requirements for raw materials and place orders required to meet production schedules considering inventory parameters, lead times, and vendor approvals/ratings
Expedites orders as necessary
Actively involved in all new product introduction and product changes to provide for a smooth transition from development to manufacturing, as required
Work closely with Engineering and Quality Departments with regard to drawing changes, issues and parts requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
Post secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
Preference will be given for candidates pursuing a PMAC or CPIM Certification
4- 5 years purchasing/scheduling experience including inventory control within a Production environment
Have a general understanding of GD&T, KPC and CPK
Knowledge of VA/VE processes
Proven cost savings measures
Knowledge and capability to handle the successful negotiation and implementation of products and services contracts
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment
Must be able to obtain a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL)
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central considered a strong asset
