<p><b>Job Title: Senior Architect (Contract - 1 Year, Option to Extend)</b></p><p><b>Work Arrangement: Hybrid Toronto, ON</b></p><p><b>Hours: 35 per week (Billable Hours Only)</b></p><p><br></p><p>We are seeking an experienced <b>Senior Architect</b> to support design and construction activities across multiple ongoing transit-related projects. This role is ideal for a highly skilled architectural professional who excels in technical accuracy, multidisciplinary coordination, and hands-on site involvement.</p><p><br></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Lead full architectural design services for transit and infrastructure facilities.</li><li>Direct, coordinate, and review the work of Design Architects and support staff.</li><li>Prepare code compliance reviews, schematic designs, preliminary concepts, and technical design reports.</li><li>Develop work plans, coordinate staff assignments, and act as the design lead on assigned projects.</li><li>Produce complete contract documentation and sign off on drawings where required.</li><li>Conduct field reviews, site inspections, deficiency reporting, and permit-related reviews.</li><li>Provide construction-phase support, including reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and contract submittals.</li><li>Coordinate and justify anticipated contract changes.</li><li>Review and provide comments on technical documents prepared by internal engineering teams and external consultants.</li><li>Participate in reviews of external development proposals for alignment with standards.</li><li>Support updates to architectural design standards as assigned.</li><li>Ensure all designs meet technical adequacy, safety, constructability, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness requirements.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Work Environment, Equipment & PPE Requirements</b></p><ul><li><b>Hybrid role:</b> mix of office presence, remote work, and regular on-site field visits (approx. 2-3 days weekly), with potential 24-hour notice.</li><li>Must be located within reasonable commuting distance to the GTA due to frequent site attendance.</li><li><b>Personal Computer Requirement:</b></li><li>You must use your own <b>Windows-based personal computer</b> and home Wi-Fi to connect remotely (via RDP) to the organization's systems.</li><li>Ability to use Microsoft Teams and other standard online meeting platforms is required.</li><li><b>PPE Requirements:</b></li><li>Safety vest, hard hat, safety glasses, and reflective bands will be provided.</li><li><b>Safety shoes are not provided and must be brought by the consultant.</b></li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.</li><li><b>15+ years</b> of directly related experience, including work on transit, transportation, or large-scale public infrastructure facilities.</li><li><b>Full membership with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) - Mandatory.</b></li><li>Demonstrated leadership experience on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.</li><li>Strong knowledge of building codes, architectural standards, contract documents, and construction processes.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Contract Details</b></p><ul><li><b>1-year contract</b>, with options to extend up to two additional 1-year terms.</li><li>Approximately <b>35 hours/week</b>, with only actual hours worked considered billable.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>If you are an accomplished Architect with deep experience in public infrastructure or transit environments, and you enjoy working both in the field and in a design leadership capacity, we encourage you to apply.</p><p><br></p><p>Thank you for your interest in our position.
