Job Description
The Registered Practical Nurse in the Same Day Surgery Unit participates in providing peri-operative care for adult and pediatric patients in accordance with the job description and Scope of Practice for Registered Practical Nurses.
1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical NurseĀ
2. Current Medication Administration and Asepsis Certificates, or has the ability to successfully complete within 6 months of commencing the roleĀ
3. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation CPR course diploma or equivalentĀ
4. Current certification in venipuncture and completing a 12 lead ECGĀ
5. Completion of a nursing physical assessment courseĀ
6. Physical Assessment CertificateĀ
7. Recent (3 years) experience pediatric and adult surgical skillĀ
8. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high turnover environmentĀ
9. Evidence of commitment to professional practiceĀ
10. Demonstrates interpersonal, communication and teamwork skillĀ
11. Demonstrates critical-thinking and decision-making in assessment and problem identificationĀ
12. Demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skillĀ
