Receiving & Inventory Lead - Nanaimo

Overview

GARDENWORKS is British Columbia’s largest independently owned garden centre company with 10 locations across Vancouver’s lower mainland, Vancouver Island, and South Okanagan. Join GARDENWORKS and play a key role in inspiring people to cultivate joy and beauty in their homes, gardens, and communities. This is a full-time position with compensation of $23.00 – $25.00/hour.

Responsibilities

• Receiving & Inventory Control
  • Receive, verify, and process incoming shipments from vendors and internal transfers
  • Accurately check deliveries against purchase orders and packing slips
  • Identify, document, and communicate discrepancies, damages, or shortages
  • Manage product flow from truck offloading to appropriate staging areas and onto the sales floor
  • Ensure product is handled, stored, and rotated safely and correctly
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area
• POS & Administrative Support
  • Enter received inventory into the POS system accurately and in a timely manner
  • Print and apply price stickers, barcodes, and product labels as required
  • Process inventory write-offs for damaged, expired, or unsellable merchandise
  • Prepare and manage RTVs (Return to Vendor), including documentation and system entry
  • Maintain organized and accurate receiving records
  • Support inventory counts, audits, and seasonal changeovers

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
• Comfortable standing, walking, bending, crouching, and reaching for extended periods
• Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions as required
• Forklift Certification (we can provide training), palette jack operation

Qualifications & Skills

• Previous receiving, warehouse, or retail inventory experience preferred
• Experience working with POS or inventory management systems an asset
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced, seasonal environment
• Clear communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members
• Basic computer skills (data entry, printing, scanning)
