Project Estimator Mining
Job Description
We are seeking a Project Estimator to support a major underground mine expansion project in Northern Ontario. The Estimator will be seconded into the project controls team and will play a key role in preparing, validating, and maintaining cost estimates for all phases of the project, including early works, shutdown execution, and post shutdown activities.This position requires strong experience in mining, industrial projects, and the ability to work on site as part of a cross functional project team.
Key Objectives
Deliver accurate and timely cost estimates for various stages of the project lifecycle.
Support change management by assessing cost impacts for scope changes.
Maintain estimate basis documentation and contribute to monthly reporting.
Ensure alignment with project requirements, internal standards, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for early works, shutdown planning, and execution phases.
Validate contractor and vendor estimates; provide independent cost assessments.
Develop and maintain estimate basis documentation.
Support cost controls, forecasting, and change management processes.
Prepare cost impacts and analytics for scope changes and project updates.
Provide monthly cost reports and contribute to project controls governance.
Collaborate with engineering, scheduling, procurement, and construction teams
Required Expertise & Skills
Strong background in mining and industrial project estimating.
Proficiency with estimating software and standard industry tools.
Solid understanding of Canadian cost norms and mining sector practices.
Ability to analyze technical documents, drawings, and contractor inputs.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work in a site based environment and integrate with a multidisciplinary team.
