Position Overview
The Project Coordinator's role is to support Project Managers across the Electrical, Civil, and Rail sectors. This term position, with potential for permanent placement, involves assisting with project planning, scheduling, procurement, and progress monitoring to ensure successful and timely project delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction project coordination, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Role & Responsibilities
The role of the Project Coordinator is to support and assist the Project Manager to ensure and facilitate successful project delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, task coordination, asset management, organizing documentation, progress monitoring, and implementation.
- Assist the project manager in planning, organizing, and overseeing construction from inception to completion
- Support in monitoring various bid sites for suitable opportunities, evaluating tender risks, scopes of work, and resource demands
- Assist with review of drawings and specifications, preparation of proposals, estimates, and tender submissions
- Setup job in accounting system, issue purchase orders, review vendor/subcontractor invoices, and promptly issue client invoices for work performed
- Prepare work schedules and coordinate manpower and equipment for ongoing and upcoming projects
- Solicit pricing and procurement of materials, coordinate shop drawing reviews, releases, and deliveries
- Manage project materials and communicate availability of inventory to field supervisors
- Apply for electrical permits, underground locates, and inspections as required
- Assist with project close out procedures and submittals
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including field staff, management, clients, owners' representatives, engineers, sub-contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution
- Coordinate project schedules, resources, and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
- Track project progress and report to the project manager on key milestones and potential risks
- Assist with change-management documentation to ensure project continuity
- Conduct site visits to support field staff and ensure compliance and proper understanding of scope
- Perform inspections to monitor construction progress, safety, and quality standards
- Prepare documentation for and participate in project meetings
Job Requirements and Preferences
- Minimum 2 years of related experience preferred (Electrical, Rail, and/or Civil)
- Ability to understand, read, and interpret drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of construction processes, methods, materials
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and independent
- A proactive and adaptable attitude, willing to learn and take on new challenges
- Technological aptitude, including MS Office, QB Online (estimating), PDF editors, virtual meetings platforms, etc
- Previous internships or work experience in construction or project management are an asset
- Post Secondary Education in Project Management, CET, or a related field is an asset
Environment
- This position is a full time in-office position
- Standard work hours are Monday to Friday 7am-4pm
- The position will require field visits which may require travel on occasion
Oakpark Powerline is located on Highway 75, 3 miles south of St Norbert
