Role Overview
The Project Accountant will be a key contributor to the department, working closely with the Director of Finance. You will be responsible for accurately tracking, analyzing, and reporting on project costs. Other financial responsibilities, as well as general accounting, will be involved. We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, self-starter who can juggle multiple projects with accuracy and within time constraints.
Responsibilities
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Full cycle accounting for Dunsire's companies, including invoicing its services to various project companies.
Review and interpret financial statements and operations to facilitate better upper management decision making.
Accurate and timely processing of Accounts Receivable and ensuring accurate and timely processing of Accounts Payable function through ongoing review and training of Accounts Payable staff.
Track invoices against Purchaser Orders, as well as post and track customer deposits.
Maintains regular contact with other departments to obtain and convey information and/or correct transactions.
Assist legal representatives with preparing and reviewing Statement of Adjustments for house closings.
Complete monthly budget updates and monitor costs to complete for each department working with respective department managers, job cost and cash flow review and follow-up and follow-through with managers.
Prepare monthly draw packages, including supporting documentation and schedules to obtain funding from lenders, and equity partners.
Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements.
Assist with the daily banking requirements and monitor cash-flow/bank balances.
Work with the Director of Finance to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
Update project Proforma budgets monthly with costs to date and prepare monthly project draws.
Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the company.
Pro-actively recommend and assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to process improvements of the company.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of project accountant experience.
Computer skills including MS Office, QuickBooks, Sage 50 (Simply Accounting), ability to learn and use additional software.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information.
Good time-management skills.
Meticulous records maintenance skills.
Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and executive team.
Ability to learn internal software programs.
Honest and trustworthy.
Good judgment skills.
Previous experience in the construction or trade industries considered an asset.

Compensation: A competitive salary, commensurate with experience and along with an RRSP program and benefits.

Proposed Salary Range: $75,000-85,000 annually
