Job Description
Reporting to the Produce Department Head (or his/her delegate), the Produce Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Department Head and Assistant Department Head in providing guidance, supervision and serving as a good example for Produce Assistants to follow.
T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada's largest Asian supermarket chain with 36 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 13 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company's continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
- Conduct quality control during receiving; manage inventory and product quality; follow the FIFO concept; ensure full display of various produce products
- Provide guidance and supervision to Produce Assistants; assist Department Head in training department staff
- Follow procedures to process expired products and manage shrinkage
- Prepare various produce for sales activities, including but not limited to sorting, cutting, washing, weighing, packing and labeling various produce products and display them in the display cases
- Greet customers by providing good customer service with smile, friendly enthusiasm
- Assist customers in selecting produce products and provide recommendations to them, as required
- Handle customers' complaints, build rapport with customers by providing good smile, eye contact and attention to them
- Lead by example by performing duties of the Department Supervisor as required
- Be familiar with the location of various produce items; keep self up to date with all in Produce Department promotional activities
- Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours and statutory holidays
- Have a good understanding of tools & equipment relevant to the job and know how to interpret merchandise labels
- Be prepared to stand long periods and to handle products hands-on, including lifting products of up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
- Be prepared to work in a low temperature (0-4 ℃) environment regularly
- Possess basic computer skills in MS Office
- Not allergic in handling produce products
- Possess knowledge of workplace health & safety
