Job Description

Sylvan Lake Lodge is a nonprofit seniors lodge dedicated to providing safe, comfortable, and supportive housing for older adults in our community. We pride ourselves on compassionate service, integrity, and excellence in care.
We are seeking a Bookkeeper / Administrative Assistant to join our dedicated team. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and values the rewarding experience of working in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and organized financial records
Manage full-cycle accounting, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements, supporting documentation, and schedules for auditors
Process Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) transactions
Administer bi-weekly payroll and handle related benefits administration
Maintain compliance with nonprofit reporting standards and internal financial policies
Support annual budget preparation and assist with forecasting and variance analysis
Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all accounting and administrative activities
Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and management team as required (correspondence, data entry, records management, etc.)
Assist with HR-related tasks as needed
Qualifications & Skills
Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (equivalent experience may be considered)
Minimum 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, ideally within a nonprofit or housing/lodge environment
Proficiency in QuickBooks and Yardi software
Strong working knowledge of AR/AP, Payroll, and Benefits Administration
Experience supporting audits and preparing reports for auditors
Understanding of Workforce systems and HR coordination is considered an asset
Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
