Overview
We are seeking a dedicated medical administrative assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a positive, enthusiastic attitude, with a passion for delivering excellent patient care and administrative support in a medical setting, specifically in Ophthalmic surgery.
This position requires flexibility to work at two different locations:
iCare Medical Centre, 5945 Jeanne D'Arc Blvd S, Orléans, ON K1C 2N1
iCare Surgical Centre, 2148 Carling Ave #205, Ottawa, ON K2A 4E2
The specific location will be communicated in advance. Applicants must be willing to commute to either location as needed.
- Bilingual applicants are preferred but it is not required.
Responsibilities:
Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure a positive patient care experience.
Warmly greet patients and provide information about our services.
Manage patient scheduling, including managing patient referrals, appointment bookings, follow-ups, confirmations, and rescheduling requests.
Respond promptly and accurately to patient inquiries via phone, email, and voicemail, delivering clear and helpful information.
Ensure the accuracy and organization of medical records by scanning, sorting, and filing documents into patient charts within the EMR system.
Process patient intake forms and verify insurance information to ensure all details are current and accurate.
Oversee the smooth flow of patients by efficiently managing check-in and check-out procedures.
Process payments using POS systems and direct billing with precision, ensuring accurate and timely transactions.
Experience:
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with patients, families, and team members.
Previous experience in a reception or customer service role is preferred, ideally in an optometry or medical office environment.
Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with electronic medical records systems and Microsoft Office.
Proficiency with Epic software is advantageous.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in French are preferred.
