Position Overview
The permanent, full-time Lead Hand – Utilities Treatment Lab Facilities is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of treatment laboratory facilities while ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant performance of all systems. This role provides hands-on leadership and technical guidance to operations staff while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance. The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
Minimum five years' previous experience in a lab or treatment plant.
Completion of a post-secondary degree in science with a focus on chemistry or a related science discipline.
Proficient in intermediate Word and Intermediate Excel, as demonstrated through testing. (70% pass rate required)
Minimum of three months' previous supervisory experience in a lab with demonstrated leadership qualities.
Valid BC Driver's Licence - Class 5.
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position. This is a CUPE local 900 position.

Monday – Friday: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM and 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
This position is being hired under a modified work schedule (one extra day off every third week). Please see attached Terms of Reference.
