Job Title: Justice Studies Placement Advisor


Appointment Type: Temporary Position


Dates: March 23, 2026 - June 30, 2027


Hours per week/FTE: 17.5 hours per week


About the Position


As a member of the School of Justice Studies, reporting to the Associate Dean, this position is responsible for facilitating the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) process for programs within the School of Justice Studies. Responsibilities include securing new WIL opportunities, maintaining an inventory of WIL opportunities for students, and managing data entry, reporting, and liaison with partner organizations.


Responsibilities



  • Supports students preparing for Work Integrated Learning (WIL).

  • Facilitates student Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placement process simultaneously for the following Justice Studies programs: Corrections Diploma, Policing Diploma, and Criminal Justice degree.

  • Demonstrates awareness and knowledge of specifics required for each program and each specific WIL course that students are scheduled to complete.

  • Manages all essential information relating to Justice Studies student pre‑WIL requirements as identified by internal and external stakeholders, including preparation, collection, recording, filing, monitoring, reporting, and follow‑up on multiple data elements per student.

  • Develops, maintains, and enters data using appropriate software and established systems to keep accurate and up‑to‑date records and provide reports as required.

  • Manages all affiliation agreements for Justice Studies WIL, which may involve initiation of new agreements and maintaining currency and accuracy of existing agreements.

  • Utilizes advanced features of Microsoft Office and related software, including complex spreadsheets, queries, report functions, merges between applications, and electronic communication.


Required Qualifications



  • 2‑year diploma in a field related to the Justice Studies programs (Corrections, Criminal Justice – Policing, Justice Studies, or Public Safety).

  • Four years of work experience in a related field.

  • A degree in a related field, and previous experience in job placements/employment counselling and extensive knowledge of the Justice field will be considered.

Salary


AUPE Class Level 9 Step 1 – $27.42 per hour.
