Job Title Justice Studies Placement Advisor Appointment Type Temporary Position Dates March 23, June 30, 2027 Hours per week/FTE 17.5 hours per week About the Position

As a member of the School of Justice Studies, reporting to the Associate Dean, this position is responsible for facilitating the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) process for programs within the School of Justice Studies. This includes securing new WIL opportunities, and maintaining an inventory of WIL opportunities for students; accurate and timely entry of student, faculty, agency and WIL data; maintaining a data base, collecting student data related to WIL, matching students to a WIL opportunity in collaboration with Chair of respective program, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with Agency/Organizations hosting WIL experiences, implementing and monitoring securement and renewal of WIL affiliation agreement process, preparing and providing AD and Chairs with reports related to WIL process as required.

This position involves extensive communication with partner organizations, students, faculty and other internal/external stakeholders; therefore, exceptional interpersonal skills, compassion, and problem-solving skills are required. Given this position requires facilitating a complex process and meeting tight timelines that will at times require re-prioritization, exceptional proven time management, and organizational skills are required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications at an advanced level, data bases, internet navigation, customer relations management software, and college systems is required given the multiple reports, complex spreadsheets, query and report functions, and volume of emails that will be required. Strong research and analytical skills are required as the position is tasked with securing new Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities in collaboration with the Associate Dean and Chair of program.

Position Details

Supports students preparing for Work Integrated Learning (WIL).
Facilitates student Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placement process simultaneously for the following Justice Studies programs: Corrections Diploma, Policing Diploma, and Criminal Justice degree.
Incumbent must have awareness and knowledge of specifics required for each program, and each specific Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course that students are scheduled to complete.
Manages all essential information relating to Justice Studies student pre-WIL requirements as identified by internal and external stakeholders. This involves preparation, collection, recording, filing, monitoring, reporting, and following up on multiple data elements per student.
Development, maintenance and data entry of data using appropriate software and established systems to keep accurate and up to date records and provide reports as required.
Manages all affiliation agreements for Justice Studies WIL which may involve initiation of new agreements and maintaining currency and accuracy of existing agreements.
Proficiency in multiple software programs, including Microsoft Office software applications, email and internet navigation, are required to complete all tasks related to responsibilities and necessary due to a wide range of duties.
Proficiency in use of advanced software program features such as merges between applications, creation and modification of complex spreadsheet and charts, application of query and report functions, email communication and electronic storage, and Internet usage as an information source.

Required Qualifications

2-year diploma in a field related to the Justice Studies programs as the position supports: Corrections, Criminal Justice – Policing, Justice Studies, or Public Safety.
Four years of work experience in a related field.
A degree in related field, and previous experience in job placements/employment counselling and extensive knowledge of the Justice field will be considered.
