Salary: $45-55 / Hour
We are seeking an experienced Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to manage day-to-day mechanical shop operations and perform hands-on maintenance and repair of construction equipment. This role includes leadership responsibilities, workload prioritization, and mentoring an apprentice in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee daily mechanical shop operations, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Prioritize and schedule maintenance and repairs to minimize equipment downtime
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty equipment including loaders, excavators, bulldozers, trucks, and related machinery
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Train, mentor, and supervise an apprentice; hire and supervise additional staff as required
- Enforce company safety policies and participate in safety meetings and inspections
- Communicate with internal teams, clients, vendors, and suppliers regarding equipment status and parts availability
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Red Sealcertified Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
- Minimum 5 years post-certification experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of heavy-duty equipment, diagnostics, and repair techniques
- Proven ability to manage shop operations and prioritize workloads
- Experience mentoring apprentices
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with maintenance management software and Microsoft Office
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record (CDL preferred)
