Overview

We are hiring a hands-on, reliable General Farm Worker to support our hydroponic greenhouse, outdoor crops, and small livestock operations. This is real farm work—fast-paced, physical, and essential. If you're dependable, detail-oriented, and not afraid of hard work, you'll do well here. If you're looking for an easy job, this is not it.

Responsibilities

• Prepare trays or growing mediums with seeds for lettuce and herbs.
• Transplant seedlings into the hydroponic system.
• Prune damaged or overcrowded leaves to improve plant health.
• Inspect plants for signs of pests or diseases.
• Carefully cut and collect mature lettuce and herbs according to facility standards.
• Sort produce based on quality and size for packaging.
• Prepare harvested produce for shipment or sale, including labeling and packaging.
• Regularly clean tools, equipment, and hydroponic systems to prevent contamination.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized facility to ensure efficient operations.
• Assist in harvesting outdoor crops during the summer season, such as vegetables or fruits.
• Remove debris, weeds, or old plants from outdoor growing areas.
• Water, fertilize, and weed outdoor crops to ensure healthy growth.
• Animal & Poultry Tasks:
• Collect eggs from chickens and ensure proper storage.
• Assist in feeding and watering animals as needed.
• Keep animal areas clean to maintain sanitary conditions.
• Document activities such as planting, harvesting, cleaning, and equipment maintenance.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to complete tasks efficiently.
• Follow food safety, workplace safety, and hygiene protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)and all regulatory requirements.

General Duties

• Log daily activities (planting, harvesting, cleaning, maintenance)
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety protocols
• Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
• Transplant seedlings into hydroponic systems
• Physically demanding work: standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, repetitive tasks
• Must be able to lift 60+ lbs
• Comfortable working in hot, cold, humid, and variable conditions
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work quickly and accurately
• Flexible availability during peak harvest periods
• Agricultural role: overtime and stat holiday provisions do not apply
• Days off may be limited during harvest season
• Must live in or near Kelowna
• Farming experience is an asset, but attitude and reliability matter more
