Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and friendly Garden Centre Associate to join our garden centre team. This role requires excellent communication skills, experience working in a garden centre or gardening as a hobby and will play a key role in enhancing the shopping experience for our customers.
Blue Spruce Nursery focuses on offering a welcoming and positive environment where customers and staff can share their passion and experience for gardening. We love to share ideas, offer advice and provide customers with a relaxing place to get inspired.
Familiarity with gardening and plant care is required. Please include in your resume or cover letter any experience you have with gardening or plants, either in a retail setting or with your own home garden.
There is one part-time position available for the upcoming season.
Duties
- Provide excellent customer service to all customers entering the garden centre
- Respond to and handle customer inquiries, requests and concerns in a friendly and timely manner, over the phone and in person.
- Ensure merchandise display areas are kept appealing and fresh according to new arrivals and bloom times.
- Handle multiple customers in an effective and efficient manner.
- Deal with challenging situations in a professional manner.
- Ensure that retail tasks are executed efficiently (e.g., stocking, labels, facing, etc.).
- Keep the garden centre neat and tidy, ensuring a safe environment for staff and customers.
- Perform opening and closing duties, when scheduled during these times..
- Assist in the receipt of garden centre products.
- Completes other tasks, as required.
Experience
- Previous experience in a garden centre or personal garden required.
- Previous experience in retail sales or customer service is required.
- Great communication skills and general friendliness is required.
- Strong organizational skills to manage tasks and maintain an orderly environment.

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 6-7 months
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 32 per week
Work Location: In person
