Full-Time Veterinarian – Beef Cattle
Job Description
We are a growing, hands-on beef cattle ranch seeking an experienced large-animal Veterinarian to manage herd health, reproduction, and emergency care. This is not a clinic-only role. You will be boots-on-the-ground, making real decisions that affect herd performance, calving success, and animal welfare.
Application Requirements (Mandatory):
Do not apply if you do not meet the experience requirements listed above. This role requires a minimum of 4–5 years of hands-on beef cattle veterinary experience, including independent C-sections and Artificial Insemination. Only applicants selected for further consideration will be contacted.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform bovine C-sections, dystocia management, and emergency calving interventions
- Conduct Artificial Insemination (AI) and support breeding protocols
- Pregnancy diagnosis (palpation and/or ultrasound)
- Herd health planning: vaccination schedules, parasite control, nutrition collaboration
- Diagnose and treat illness, injury, and reproductive issues
- Advise on biosecurity, animal welfare, and disease prevention
- Maintain accurate medical and treatment records
- Collaborate with ranch management on herd performance and operational improvements
- On-call availability during calving season (non-negotiable)
Required Qualifications
- DVM (or equivalent) licensed to practice in British Columbia
- Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on beef cattle experience
- Proven experience performing C-sections and AI independently
- Strong working knowledge of reproductive management and herd health programs
- Comfortable working outdoors, in all weather conditions
- Calm, decisive, and practical under pressure
- Strong communication skills with ranch staff and ownership
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $115,000.00-$120,712.11 per year
