Field Machinist
Job Description
What you will do
Maintain current knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machine ability of materials and layout techniques
Set up and operate specialized portable machining equipment such as Align Boring Machine, Flange Facing, Milling Machines, portable Lathes.
Interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work requirement
Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speeds and feeds, depth and angle of cuts.
Effectively select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on a variety of machines.
Perform work at several job sites including underground environments and in shop settings.
Work with customers to ensure satisfaction and job expectation is met.
Maintain service truck logs according to company policies when operating company vehicles.
What we need
Demonstrate and apply strong problem solving skills in day to day operations
Review processes for potential problems and opportunities for improvement and collaborates with appropriate personnel to resolve issues
Ability to effectively communicate and problem solve within a team environment
Self starter with the ability to work effectively with very little to no supervision
Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and maintain a strong commitment to the B&D Manufacturing Safety Program at all times.
A valid "G" class drivers' license in good standing is required.
Current WHIMIS required
Completion of NORCAT training (Common Core preferred) is considered an asset.
Experience is surface and underground mining plants, mills and smelters is considered an asset.
Norcat and Vale Training considered an asset.

Education:
· High School graduate or equivalent required
· Qualified machinist or equivalent certificate preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 3+ years extensive experience in the machine shop trade of in-company or equivalent
- Experience working in an ISO quality environment is preferred
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $35.00-$42.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
