Facilities Maintenance Associate
Location: North York
Shifts: Day ONLY β 10:00am to 6:00pm
Pay: $22.00 β $25.00 per hour
Status: Full-Time Only (no part-time positions available) β 6 month+ contract
Start Dates: ASAP
We are seeking experienced Facilities Maintenance Associates to support daily school operations by ensuring buildings and grounds are secure, clean, and well maintained. This role also assists with school events and responds to the needs of the school community. A strong focus on safety, responsiveness, and dependable maintenance is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the security and safety of the school facility, including:
- Closing the school each evening
- Ensuring all gates are locked
- Ensuring all doors and windows are latched
- Ensuring the security alarm is engaged
- Reporting any safety or security concerns promptly
- Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of buildings and grounds (inside and outside)
- Respond promptly to spills or urgent cleanup requirements
- Clean washrooms and change rooms and maintain supply levels
- Clean common areas including dining hall, gymnasium, corridors, and meeting rooms
- Sweep, mop, polish, vacuum, and shampoo floors as required
- Collect and prepare garbage and recycled materials for disposal
- Support general maintenance and school operations, including:
- Assisting with painting, minor repairs, and routine upkeep
- Performing basic maintenance and minor repairs as required
- Moving equipment, furniture, and supplies as needed
- Setting up and taking down seating, furniture, and equipment for assemblies and events
- Completing deliveries and internal moves throughout the building and grounds
- Provide support to the school community by:
- Responding professionally and promptly to teachers, staff, students, and parents
- Carrying out tasks safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum 3β5 years of facilities maintenance or custodial experience
- Strong understanding of building security procedures
- Excellent command of English (written and verbal)
- Ability to safely operate and understand basic electrical, mechanical, fire-alarm, and security systems
- Demonstrated cleaning and general maintenance skills
- Ability to perform minor repairs and basic building maintenance
- Ability to work independently and respond quickly to urgent situations
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs / 25 kgs
- Must have a clear criminal background and be able to pass a Vulnerable Persons Check
- Flexibility to support school events on evenings or weekends if required
