The Opportunity:
Scope of the position
Reporting to the Manager of Finance and working within our accounting team, the Accountant role supports various aspects of day-to-day finance, accounting and operations for the company including general accounting responsibilities, assisting in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts and analysis of the periodic results as compared to budgets and forecasts.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts and documents business transactions.
- Completes monthly reconciliation, investigates, and corrects reconciling items.
- Maintains working papers and spreadsheets, analyzes, and investigates issues.
- Prepares and analyzes month-end reports in a timely manner.
- Responsible for reviewing back-ups and recording banking-related transactions.
- Assists with the completion of year-end and annual external audit.
- Addresses day-to-day accounting-related queries or issues.
- Reviews and assist the team with monthly bank reconciliation, investigating issues, and posting of the transactions, including AR other cheque coding.
- Responsible for monthly and quarterly statutory remittances, filings, and monthly surveys.
- Calculates monthly/quarterly and annual customer rebate credits and sends communications to the accounting dept.
- Prepares Month End Analysis and reconciliations of assigned accounts.
- Manage Month-end & Year-end close processes including compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare entries, adjusting journal entries to correct errors, accruals, month-end documents, checklists, and reports.
- Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed and ensuring deadlines are met in accordance with the closing dates set by management.
- Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Contributes to the Accounting department special projects and ad-hoc requests.
Skills and Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree and enrolled in CPA program.
- 4+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience and/or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Knowledge of accounting and financial theories, practices, tax, and applicable legislation.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software. Computer skills including spreadsheets, database software, email, and web browsers.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent verbal and written communication skill's
- A self-starter, flexible, with the ability to multitask and prioritize work, work independently with minimal supervision.
- Team player, Detail oriented, eager to learn and grow.
What we offer:
The target salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 CAD. The pay range for this position is a general guideline only. The salary will depend on internal pay equity and the candidate's relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and job market data.
