The OpportunityWe are seeking a Production Supervisor with a 2nd Class Operating Engineer (TSSA) Certificate to support the safe, efficient operation of our clients chemical manufacturing facility in Stoney Creek, Ontario.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer, this role plays a critical part in overseeing plant operations, driving continuous improvement, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading training and development initiatives within a unionized environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Supervise and participate in the operation and maintenance of chemical processing and utility equipment
Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), TSSA regulations, and applicable CSA standards
Monitor, analyze, and optimize process performance data across all operating areas
Troubleshoot process deviations to restore and maintain peak plant efficiency
Deliver and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly departmental objectives
Coordinate and prepare for internal and external audits and inspections (TSSA, ESA, etc.)
Maintain accurate documentation related to production, maintenance, and regulatory compliance
Develop, deliver, and maintain training programs for Operating Engineers, including onboarding and certification upgrades
Conduct technical and procedural training aligned with SOPEEC guidelines
Track certification status and ongoing training requirements for plant personnel
Organize shift workflow, assign responsibilities, and communicate schedules
Lead and coach employees in a unionized environment, providing performance feedback as needed
Prepare daily reports on production, staffing, and overall shift performance
Train new employees on equipment operation, safety procedures, and plant standards
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and resolve operational issues as they arise
What You'll Need to Be Successful
Valid 2nd Class Operating Engineer Certificate issued by TSSA (Ontario)
5–7 years of progressive experience in power plant, utility, or chemical manufacturing operations
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience managing up to six direct reports per shift
Strong working knowledge of TSSA, CSA, OHSA, and applicable regulatory requirements
Experience working in a unionized environment
Proficiency with plant control systems and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to troubleshoot effectively and lead teams in a safety-critical environment
Ok working shift work over a 4 week pattern, with long periods off.
Compensation range: $100,000 - $120,000
