Location: located in South Etobicoke on Kipling and Evans
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Processor is responsible for ensuring the products scheduled for production are produced as per the proper recipes and formulas and in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) requirements
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities:
- Setting up equipment for product runs and changeovers, including working with maintenance as required without assistance
- Pre-scaling ingredients as per cook sheets accurately and efficiently without assistance
- Monitoring processing activities against production schedule and update QC, Maintenance and Supervision on progress as needed
- Implement changes/adaptations to formula and/or process as per written instructions without assistance
- Execute modifications (without assistance) to ensure batches produced conforms to specifications
- Ensuring all QC protocols are in place and completing all required documentation (including daily records) accurately and on time
- Assisting in training as required to ensure proper production SOP’s. GMP’s, equipment and Health & Safety Standards are met
- Inspecting equipment & initiating appropriate sanitation protocols as per the Company’s SSOP’s.
- Ensuring all standards for sterilization, sanitation & housekeeping as per Company SSOP’s are met
- Batch/process for product trails as required
- Participate in Customer Audits as required
- Integrating all plant, quality, safety and security policies and guidelines into all day to day activities on the job
- Able to train new employees
- Perform tasks on time
- Delegate and work with Team Workers to perform tasks of the processing floor
- Be the main contact for the processing department when Supervisor is absent
- All other work as assigned by duly authorized Supervisor or Team Leader
Qualifications/Experience:
- To batch/process recipes that may be new recipes
- Follow all proper maintenance, sanitation and Health & Safety protocols at all times
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and general housekeeping
- Carry out timely and effective line handover between shifts, including the completion of proper documentation and accurate briefing on progress/issues
- Ensure timely availability all raw materials/packaging required to meet the production plan (as appropriate)
- Monitor high temperature batching processed as per instructions, formulas and recipes
- Perform hot & cold blending processes
- Make adjustments/modifications to batches to ensure conformance to specifications
- Operate mechanical and digital scales
- Blend various components to large and small batch processing
- Operating sheer mixers, transfer pumps, processing valves and controls
- Operating manual and automatic valves which control all bulk materials, dry materials and dispersion equipment
- Accurately recording all CCP’s (Brix, pH, colour, flavour and taste)
- Operating manual and/or electric pallet jacks
- Operate forklift
- Acquire new skills as per training provided
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors as a Quality Focused, Service orientated team player
- Solve problems independently as per standard guidelines and procedures
- Written skills for document completion and use
- Oral & written communication to give and understand work instructions (both written & verbal)
- Working with others, problem solving, critical thinking, continuous learning, finding information
- Significant use of memory
Reporting of any Food Safety or Quality Problems:
Staff are to report any food safety or food quality problems or concerns that they become aware of to personnel with authority to initiate action.
