    Job Details 

    • Position: Security Guard
    • Site: Humber College
    • City: Etobicoke, Ontario
    • Job Type: Full time, Permanent
    • Hours: Continental Rotation (0800-2000hrs)
    • Pay Rate: $17.25 starting Level 1 goes up to Level 4 ($18.62)
    • Parking – Free on campus

    Mandatory Qualifications 

    • Must possess a valid Ontario Security Licence
    • Must have First Aid & CPR Level C
    • Must have security dispatch and or call center experience

    Required Experience –

    • Must have minimum of 1 year experience in security environment (Tactical experience preferred)
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, CCTV monitoring systems
    • Strong Customer Service skills
    • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy
    • Post-Secondary education in a Law Enforcement/Security program
    • Excellent verbal/written communication skills

    Job Duties –

    • All basic duties as a CCTV operator
    • Create and update activities in Perspective Dispatch for ongoing calls and incidents in a timely fashion
    • Use Lenel Alarm Monitoring software to keep track of intrusion alarms and dispatch guards to investigate
    • Place fire alarm systems on disregard upon the request of approved contractor work and Humber Facilities
    • Answer security related calls and dispatch guards to assist and/or investigate
    • Answer general inquiries relating to the college, transferring calls to the applicable department/individual if dispatch is unable to answer the question
    • Dispatch guards to corresponding calls to their respective zones
    • Contact and update the on-call contacts when and if needed
    • Keep track and monitor the location of all guards
    • Have a strong understanding of Humber’s rules and policies
    • Be knowledgeable on the layout of the campus; i.e. knowing the correct laneways
    • Operate the fire panel…
    • Liaise with various agencies including 911 emergency call centre, TPS non- emergency, and TFS non-emergency
    • Liaise with external organizations including but not limited to fire systems service companies, elevator service companies, etc
    • Liaise with other Humber departments and stakeholders (facilities, IT, residence, etc) to ensure effective and timely response
    • Initiate 911 calls
    • Ensure all service requests and complaints are met with a professional, customer-focused and timely response
    • Ensure services are delivered promptly, impartially and safely
    • Foster an atmosphere where customer service and safety are of utmost priority
    • Provide services designed to produce a safer Humber
    • Ensure that all services are delivered in accordance to Humber’s policies and procedures and principles of the law (Civilian powers only)
    • Inform patrons of supports and services offered by the college as well as the Department of Public Safety
    • Collect and record information relevant to security issues in accordance with Humber’s policies (Human Rights, Confidentiality, etc.) and procedures
    • Take comprehensive statements/notes that contain all details relevant to the incident being attended to and ensure they are in accordance with the policies and procedures
    • Maintain appropriate security and confidentiality of information created or encountered in the performance of assigned duties
    • Escalate incidents to the shift supervisor and/or on-call if necessary
    • Other duties as assigned by shift supervisor and/or DPS management
