Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Western Canada, the Vice President, Asset Management is a senior member of the Asset Management team responsible for the strategic oversight, performance, and value creation of an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate assets within the Western Canada region.

This position works closely with property management, leasing, legal, accounting, construction, and senior executives to develop and execute property-specific strategies, deliver on business plan objectives, and advance regional and corporate initiatives. The role also plays a key part in financings, acquisitions, dispositions, and other strategic transactions.


Role & Responsibilities:

Annual Business Planning & Strategy

  • Lead the annual business plan process for the assigned portfolio, coordinating with property operations, construction management, leasing, accounting, and joint venture partners

  • Critically evaluate assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, and present recommendations and business plans to senior management and co-owners

  • Ensure timely delivery, approval, and execution of business plans in accordance with corporate and partnership timelines

Asset Value & Performance Management

  • Execute approved business plans and actively drive portfolio performance, including leasing results, occupancy, and financial outcomes

  • Establish and oversee asset value enhancing initiatives in collaboration with leasing and operations teams

  • Work closely with office and retail leasing, legal, and property operations to ensure timely execution of lease transactions and adherence to approval processes

  • Direct and support property operations in managing accounts receivable, tenant defaults, audits, and legal remedies where required

Financial Oversight & Reporting

  • Oversee accurate forecasting and monitoring of operating and capital expenditures for internal and external reporting

  • Work with the analyst team to ensure timely and accurate quarterly IFRS valuations

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reporting for senior management, boards, and joint venture partners

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Independently manage co-owned assets and maintain strong working relationships with joint venture partners and key stakeholders

  • Present at co-owner meetings and manage required approval processes throughout the year

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development to asset management analysts, supporting overall team and departmental objectives

  • Collaborate closely with property operations to ensure compliance with corporate policies, best practices, and management agreements

Strategic Initiatives

  • Support and participate in financings, acquisitions, and dispositions within the Western Canada region

  • Lead analysts through transaction processes and coordinate with internal teams and external advisors to deliver timely, accurate, and high-quality information


Your Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5–8 years of direct commercial real estate experience

  • Proven experience managing multiple commercial assets, ideally within complex ownership or joint venture structures

  • Direct asset valuation and financial modeling experience required

  • Strong understanding of leases, real estate legal principles, property operations, and valuation methodologies

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with real estate systems and reporting platforms is an asset

  • University degree in Business, Economics, or a related field

  • Post-graduate degree or professional designation (MBA, CPA/CA, CFA) considered an asset

  • Strong leadership and relationship-management skills with the ability to influence across multiple stakeholder groups

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation to senior executives and partners

  • Highly analytical with strong strategic, financial, and problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to balance high-level strategic oversight with detailed execution

  • Professional judgment, discretion, and a collaborative, service-oriented approach
