This role is at the heart of ensuring smooth operations through accurate distribution of freight, printing services products, custodial supplies, and various equipment. Reporting to the Labour Crew Supervisor and the Manager of Custodial Services, you will perform a variety of hands-on duties related to maintenance, repair, and logistics. Your role will be dynamic, encompassing tasks such as event set-up and snow removal, and will require physical agility and a proactive, can-do attitude. You will collaborate with various internal stakeholders, helping to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of University services.
What You'll Do:
- Distribution Excellence: Accurately deliver various equipment, freight, and supplies, including dangerous goods, to all areas of the University and ensure timely processing of time cards from completed work orders.
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Install and repair campus roadway and parking signage. Perform repairs on campus roadways and parking lots as required.
- Event Support: Contribute to special event set-up and take-down for various occasions (e.g., convocation, final exams, conferences, athletic events, student orientation).
- Storage Management: Maintain indoor and outdoor storage facilities in an organized manner.
- Logistics and Moves: Assist in moving office equipment, furniture, artwork, etc., ensuring efficient internal moves.
- Snow Removal: Clear snow from stairways, fire exits, rooftops, ramps, walkways, bike racks, parking kiosks, accessibility areas, and drop-down crossings on both campuses.
- Team Collaboration: Assist journeypersons of various trades, Custodial Team Leads, and shippers/receivers as required. Collaborate with the Labour Crew Supervisor and the Manager of Custodial Services.

Position Requirements
What You Will Bring to the Position:
- Successful completion of Grade 12
- One year of previous related work experience
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Possess a valid Saskatchewan Driver's License (Class 5) with a clean driver's abstract.
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in this Role:
- Possession of a forklift and skid steer operator's certificate is preferred.
- Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
- Knowledge of WHMIS.
- Physical ability to safely perform heavy manual labour (physical assessment is required).
- Knowledge and skill in the operation of light and heavy-duty trucks, pallet jacks, personnel lifts, aerial work platforms, other material handling equipment, and hand and power tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge of University building and mechanical room equipment.
- Ability to perform minor maintenance/mechanical repair to equipment is an asset.
- Proficiency and skill in Microsoft software applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook.)
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, the general public, external consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to details.
- Ability to foster a cooperative and respectful work environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain record-keeping systems and procedures.
- Ability to understand and comply with University health and safety requirements, Saskatchewan Occupation Health and Safety Regulations, and all safe work procedures and practices applicable to the position.
- Ability to safely use equipment, machine guards, and safety devices. All personal protective equipment must be worn appropriately.
- Ability to identify and report unsafe acts, workplace hazards, and incidents that result (or could result) in injury, illness, or environmental damage.
- Ability to work and encourage others to work and act safely.
Physical Demands
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- May be required to work various shifts, including evening, weekend, and/or holidays. Physical activity is a primary requirement of the job. Work will be performed at heights, in crawl spaces, on rooftops, and will include the use of ladders. Work involves exposure to unusual elements such as confined spaces, extreme temperatures, chemicals, hazardous materials, dirt, dust, and /or loud noises. Work environment may involve exposure to potentially hazardous materials and situations that require following extensive precautionary processes and procedures.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at considerable heights.
- Ability to lift up to 23kg and push/pull up to 23kg.
Pay Grade CUPE Phase 3 Salary Range $44,598.32 to $53,549.60 annually Status Term Work Hours
Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
May require shiftwork or overtime hours.
