Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Content Designer (UX Writer) to join our client's team for a 6-month contract. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering sophisticated content designs across multiple digital platforms by creating, evaluating, and modifying the language used in tools, apps, prototypes, and websites. You will play a pivotal role in conducting ideation sessions, developing innovative concepts, and utilizing design thinking methodologies to shape the future of user experiences.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, user-centered professional who can balance technical requirements with creative storytelling, ensuring all content is accessible, engaging, and aligned with complex business priorities.
Our client is working in their office 3 days per week in downtown Toronto, this will increase to 4 days (with notice) later in 2026.
Responsibilities
- Experience Design: Conceptualize, design, and execute both future-state and near-term cross-channel content experiences that resonate with users.
- Content Lifecycle Management: Participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including ideation, user research, feature team scoping, effort estimation, and post-launch evaluation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Experience Design Leads, Product Owners, and Engineers to develop optimal solutions for customers while acting as a subject matter expert within your area of specialty.
- Quality & Compliance: Apply expert writing, editing, and proofreading skills to ensure all content meets internal/external requirements and complies with Canadian government plain language and accessibility standards.
- Problem Solving: Solve complex problems requiring the analysis of multiple variables and consultation with diverse stakeholders.
- Operational Excellence: Independently perform tasks from end-to-end, ensuring business operations are in compliance with financial controls and physical asset management.
- Stakeholder Communication: Support the development and delivery of presentations and communications to management and broader audiences, providing guidance for complex situations and identifying potential risks.
Requirements
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Design Tools: Professional proficiency in Figma.
- Documentation: Advanced experience with MS Word.
- Standards & Compliance: Deep familiarity with the Canadian Government Plain Language Standards Act and the Accessible Canada Act.
- Experience: 5+ years of overall experience, preferably in digital, conversation, or content design.
- Collaboration: A strong willingness to collaborate within large, cross-functional teams.
- Drive: Self-motivated, flexible, organized, and highly accountable.
- Resilience: Ability to respond to and action feedback effectively, even during high-pressure \"crunch\" times.
- Passion: A genuine passion for great experience design and user-centered methodologies.
- Industry Experience: Previous experience in Financial Services (FI) or Public Site development.
- Educational Background: Experience in a design-related discipline (Industrial Design, Visual Design, Design Strategy, Human-Computer Interaction, or Psychology) is a major plus.
- Regulatory Experience: Background working within highly regulated industries.
