GFL Environmental is looking for a Transfer Station Supervisor to join our team in Chemainus, British ColumbiaThe Transfer Station Supervisor will be responsible for developing a thorough understanding of the Company’s Transfer Station operation and transportation requirements.Why Join TEAM GREEN• Excellent Health, Vision, and Dental benefits• Retirement savings options• Possible Over Time• Excellent Work life balanceKey Responsibilities:• Providing direct supervision to all drivers, heavy equipment operators, and support staff; ensuring ongoing training requirements, discipline, and procedural implementation• Working alongside the Operations Manager and the HR Manager to maintain adequate staffing levels, including participating in interviews and pre-employment Road Tests.• Conducting ongoing observational behavior assessments and driver/HEO training to uncover any performance issues, and creating an action plan to correct.• Tracking ongoing service/staff issues and documenting any discipline required• Attaining all of the necessary information regarding any issues by maintaining courteous, prompt and efficient customer relations.• Responsible for fulfilling daily staffing requirements• Meeting company financial expectations• Organizing and overseeing fleet mechanical requirements on trucks, heavy equipment and infrastructure• Organizing, approving and scheduling employee vacation requests• Ensuring a healthy and safe working environment for all workers, and reporting any related issues immediately to the Operations Manager• Ensuring company policy, systems, and industry related training is delivered to all employees as needed• Conducting Incident Investigations when company vehicles are involved in traffic accidents• Coordinate with vendors• Work with municipal clients to meet their goals• Other duties as assignedRequirements:• Valid Commercial Driver’s License• 2 years of supervisory experience, ideally with a large team• Proficiency with performing pre- and post-trip inspections, as well as incident investigations• Strong communication and interpersonal skills• Capability to plan, prioritize and execute against tight timelines.• Intermediate database, spreadsheet, and word processing skills within a Microsoft environment• Willing to work flexible hours.About GFLAt GFL our goal is to invest in our people and provide opportunities to grow, for life• Our employees are affectionately known as team green, a name that unites us all under our shared purpose of providing sustainable solutions to enable our customers and communities to be GREEN FOR LIFE• We offer a competitive benefits plan, including RRSP match, orthodontics and vision coverage• With 20,000 employees across North America, we offer a dynamic set of career opportunities, locations and growth• We appreciate all of the local communities we live and work in, and actively contribute to them through our flagship Full Circle Project• We believe investing in the future is the right investment, our first fully electric truck is now in operation• GFL is traded on the NYSE & the TSX – search “GFL” to see our stock performanceGFLTalentWe thank you for your interest.
