Full-time, 35 hours/ week

Location: Vaughan (Cityview), Hybrid

Salary Grade: 17 ($116,368 – $145,460 annually)

What you’ll do

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Develop detailed project management plans, including construction schedules, budgets, and procedures to ensure successful project completion.
  • Review preliminary engineering designs and detailed specifications to collaborate with commercial and legal teams in developing construction and supply contracts.

Vendor and Contractor Management:

  • Manage relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and contractors.
  • Maintain and manage project execution budgets, including handling changes, reviewing costs, and processing invoices for payment.

Contract Management:

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of EPC contracts and applicable agreements for distributed energy projects.
  • Effectively manage contracts to prevent escalation of disputes between the company and consultants/contractors.

Project Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Monitor active project status and activities, preparing and maintaining master schedules integrating all project activities.
  • Prepare timely project management reports to communicate the status of individual projects and the overall program, including timelines and budget tracking.

Operational Management:

  • Manage operational aspects of project planning and implementation, enforcing project standards and safety while minimizing risks.
  • Address questions and concerns from EPC contractors.

Relationship Management:

  • Develop and assume the role of Alectra’s primary relationship manager with project stakeholders including suppliers, consultants, contractors, customers, and regulators.

Business Development Support:

  • Support business development by reviewing or creating technical feasibility assessments, project budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist in the development of customer proposals and funding application processes.

Technical and Commercial Assistance:

  • Provide assistance on technical, commercial, and economic components for project development opportunities.

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support operational objectives

Who you are

Education & Specialized Knowledge

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, or business or a related field with equivalent experience
  • Member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario required or in progress
  • PMP accreditation would be considered an asset
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the various government sponsored renewable and clean energy programs and processes, energy industry and regulatory framework
  • Knowledge of generator systems, energy storage, CHP, and renewable energy systems design, operation, and performance modeling
  • Knowledge of thermal systems would be considered an asset

Experience

  • Requires a minimum of 5 – 7 years of technical, engineering, facilities management, or construction experience including project management experience
  • Experience is required in project management of building construction, energy solution design or assessment, electric utility, cogeneration, solar or wind generation
  • Experience with EPC type project delivery is required
  • Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with external consultants, Utility personnel, building owners, landlords and facility operators
  • Experience managing contractors and consultants in the construction of renewable generation plants, energy storage projects, microgrid projects and energy solutions projects
  • Experience overseeing contracts with external suppliers/vendors
  • Demonstrated ability for project and portfolio management capability of construction projects
  • Effective presentation and communication skills in a variety of formal presentation settings: one-on-one, small, and large groups, with customers, senior leadership team, peers, and direct reports.
  • Strong experience leading projects and managing project budgets, strategic planning and developing proposals.
  • Strong customer orientation and understanding.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, and ability to track and manage multiple concurrent activity streams with a high degree of awareness and responsiveness.

  • At Alectra, Compensation for non-union positions is determined within a defined salary range for each role. Placement within the salary range depends on several factors, including qualifications, relevant experience , and alignment with the role’s requirements. We consider internal equity and market competitiveness to ensure fairness and consistency across the organization.
