Position Overview
We are seeking two energetic, highly knowledgeable Plant Expert Leads to join our team. As the heartbeat of our Garden Centre, you will not only ensure our inventory stays vibrant and healthy but also serve as a mentor to seasonal staff. These are full-time positions starting in April, ideal for those with a "green thumb" who thrive in a fast-paced, outdoor leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily care of plant inventory, including expert-level watering, pruning, and pest/disease management.
- Act as a point of contact for seasonal staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and displays remain visually appealing.
- Serve as the primary resource for complex customer inquiries regarding garden design, plant compatibility, and long-term care.
- Manage the restocking of plant material and proactively identify and report any irrigation or health issues to management.
- Maintain high standards for the Garden Centre's organization and aesthetic to ensure a premium shopping experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- Advanced gardening experience or a degree/certificate in horticulture is highly preferred. Must be able to identify a wide variety of species and their specific needs.
- Proven experience leading a team or project, with a focus on clear communication and problem-solving.
- Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions and the ability to stay active and mobile throughout the shift.
- High attention to detail and a positive, "lead-by-example" attitude in a retail environment.
- Full-time commitment through the spring and summer months, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
- Ideally able to stay on until plants are covered mid-October.
