Annual Salary Range: $70,000 CAD +10% Bonus

Polar Performance Materials was founded in 2012 and produces ultra-high purity alumina (HPA) using a proprietary low-carbon process.  The factory, located in Oakville Canada is powered with electricity generated by Niagara Falls.  Polar’s HPA is increasingly necessary to manufacture products used in high growth, high purity semiconductor applications. Other applications include LEDs, lithium-ion batteries, thermal management materials, and technical ceramics utilized in aerospace, medical and industrial systems.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Supply Chain Lead who will plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient planning, procurement, and movement of materials, services, and products across the supply chain. The role focuses on coordinating daily procurement operations, managing vendor relationships, optimizing inventory levels, and supporting cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Vendor Management

• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for materials and services.
• Manage supplier performance, contracts, and relationships to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
• Monitor and analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities

Inventory & Logistics Coordination

• Maintains oversight of inventory control processes to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize discrepancies.
• Oversees the coordination of shipping, receiving, and storage operations, ensuring timely and accurate movement of goods across inbound and outbound logistics
• Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counts and reconciliation.

Planning & Forecasting

• Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., production, finance, and sales) to align procurement and logistics plans with operational needs.
• Analyze demand forecasts and adjust procurement plans accordingly.
• Identifies operational risks in the supply chain and implements mitigation strategies in alignment with company objectives.

System & Process Improvement

• Maintain and improve ERP or supply chain systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
• Develops and improves supply chain SOPs and workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times
• Recommend improvements to reduce costs, improve delivery times, and enhance efficiency.

Reporting & Compliance

• Prepares and analyzes regular reports on KPIs such as inventory turnover, supplier performance, and cost variance.
• Ensures compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements as they relate to supply chain operations.
• Support audits and maintain accurate documentation of procurement and inventory records.

Team Support & Leadership

• Supervises and provides guidance to junior procurement and logistics staff, including coordinating their daily tasks and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional projects to improve supply chain operations.

Skills Requirement:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a supply chain, procurement, or logistics role.
• Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory management, and vendor negotiation.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience in supervising or coordinating a small team is an asset.
