What You Will Be Working On
Provide people leadership by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with trades, forepersons, and subcontractors to support positive morale and high‑performance job sites.
Provide safety leadership through the Bird Safety Program, ensuring safe work practices and ongoing monitoring of safety performance across sheet metal, cladding, and mechanical field staff and subcontractors.
Supervise and develop site team members through continuous coaching, training, and feedback; ensure timely completion of performance evaluations.
Contribute to the development, refinement, and execution of project schedules for sheet metal, cladding, and mechanical scopes, coordinating closely with other disciplines to maintain progress and avoid delays.
Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions, and change notices for sheet metal, cladding, and mechanical scopes, ensuring scopes and conditions are clearly understood and properly executed.
Identify and assess sheet metal and cladding design deficiencies, constructability concerns, and schedule impacts. Evaluate installation challenges related to ductwork fabrication, architectural cladding systems, building envelope components, weatherproofing details, and related assemblies. Collaborate with the Project Manager, field teams, and consultants to develop practical, safe, and compliant solutions.
Monitor and evaluate subcontractor performance for sheet metal, cladding, and mechanical scopes, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, quality expectations, productivity targets, and overall scope of work.
Ensure high‑quality installation of ductwork, HVAC-related sheet metal, cladding systems, façade components, flashing, insulation, and building envelope connections in accordance with drawings, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
Ensure appropriate trade staffing is in place across sheet metal, cladding, and mechanical disciplines to achieve safety, schedule, and quality objectives.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date site documentation, including daily reports, safety inspections, inspection and test plans (ITPs), schedule updates, deficiency logs, and progress photos.
What We Are Looking For
Post‑secondary education such as a diploma or degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
10+ years of experience as a Superintendent on industrial, institutional, or commercial projects.
Demonstrated, progressive experience overseeing sheet metal fabrication, ductwork installation, cladding systems, building envelope components, and associated mechanical assemblies.
Trade background in sheet metal, cladding, or related mechanical trades, and/or Gold Seal Certification is considered a strong asset.
Proven ability to supervise, coordinate, and schedule multi‑trade construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to client satisfaction.
Strong leadership, communication, field management, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to build high‑performing teams and maintain positive working environments.
Service‑oriented with the ability to develop and maintain trusted relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal teams.
Demonstrated competence in safety management, field execution, cost control, workforce planning, quality assurance, and site administration.
Open to supporting additional project locations through travel as needed.
Proactive problem‑solver with the ability to adapt to challenging field conditions and guide teams toward effective solutions.
Sound knowledge of sheet metal and cladding construction methods, ductwork fabrication, mechanical coordination, building envelope principles, applicable codes and standards, and the ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, mechanical drawings, and building envelope details.
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office and scheduling software such as MS Project.
