University of Lethbridge Athletics & Recreation Services is currently accepting applications for Summer Camp Leaders to join our team for Summer 2026. These casual positions offer flexible schedules, and we encourage applications from individuals who are available to work throughout the summer. Staff training will take place in early June, with camps beginning June 29, 2026. This role is an excellent opportunity for students looking to gain hands‑on experience and build their resumes, particularly those interested in careers in teaching, education, recreation, or working with youth.


We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals with strong customer service skills and a collaborative mindset. Excellent communication is essential, along with a positive, professional, and safety‑focused attitude. Camp Leaders play an important role in creating a reliable and supportive environment for both campers and fellow staff. In this role, you will lead engaging activities, foster a sense of belonging, and help campers build confidence, skills, and meaningful connections.


We are currently hiring leaders for the following camps: Soccer, Basketball, Multi‑Activity, Art Studio, and Drama. When applying, applicants must clearly indicate which camp they are applying to work with or note if they are open to any of the available camps. These positions report to the Summer Camp Supervisor, and the Manager of Youth Programs and involve acting as a role model while providing guidance and support to campers throughout their camp experience.


Key Responsibilities



  • Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and positive camp environment.

  • Organizing and leading camp programming.

  • Supervising and engaging campers in daily activities.

  • Communicating effectively with parents, staff, and supervisors.

  • Administering First Aid as needed while following all safety procedures and emergency protocols.


Hiring Salary: Starting wage is $19.63/hour.


Hours of Work: Shifts range from 7 to 8 hours, scheduled between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.


Position Qualifications



  • Intermediate First Aid Certification (must be Alberta Workplace Approved, previously named Standard First Aid).

  • Experience working with children (e.g., coaching, tutoring, babysitting, volunteering).

  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to stay energetic and positive in an active camp environment.

  • Previous camp experience is an asset but not required.
