SUMMER CAMP COORDINATOR

The Cranston Residents Association (Cranston RA), is a non-profit organization, which is professionally managed and maintained to ensure Cranston's community features, amenities and the Century Hall facility will continue to be both esthetically pleasing and conveniently available for the long-term use of its residents. The Cranston RA also offers many sports, fitness, and recreation programs for all age groups, throughout the year.

The Summer Camp Coordinator's role is to provide children with safe, and energizing Summer Day Camp Programs through effective leadership and creative planning. This is a seasonal position full time position running mid-May to August.

Reports to: Program & Events Coordinator

Responsibilities:

Inspire, motivate, and lead the summer camp staff (7 camp leaders and volunteers)

Be a strong leader and empower summer camp staff to take ownership in their work

Provide active supervision for all campers (Children aged 6-12)

Plan, organize, implement and evaluate programs specifically designed to benefit the Summer Day Camp Participants

Work as a part of a team to effectively deliver all planned program aspects

Develop alternative solutions to problems and set appropriate and effective priorities in one's own activities as well as those of the participants

Plan and attend all training and be an active participant in any team meetings

Gather resources and create a resource binder for the day camps hosted at Cranston RA

Set up, take down and daily maintenance of all camp materials and facilities

Provide weekly reports and suggestions along with monthly and season end reports

Communicate effectively with all staff, parents and participants

Abide by Cranston RA's Policies and Procedures

Qualifications

Minimum one year post-secondary education in a related field

3 years previous experience as a day camp leader or out of school care leader-creating extensive programming for children within a designated budget

Previous supervisory experience considered an asset

Ability to work independently and unsupervised as well as with a team

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Must enjoy working in a fast paced, challenging and changing work environment.

Must be physically able to participate in activities, run, climb, lift, or support the weight of children.

Current Standard First Aid with CPR Certificate

Successful completion of a criminal record check.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Compensation:

Compensation for this position is based on experience and qualifications. This position is on a contractual basis.
