Job Description
Position: Speed Control Operator
This position is responsible for charging the bar mill furnace with billets.
Duties and responsibilities
- Main duty is to guide billet through mill by controlling individual mill speeds by the use of computerized equipment in a pulpit type environment
- Keep detailed records of mill production
- Communicate with Furnace Operator to optimize production and rolling schedules
- Work closely with Roller and Rolling Mill Operators to ensure product is rolled to proper customer specifications
- Stay in constant contact with Shufflebar Operator and Shear Operator to determine optimum length of bar on cooling bed
- Assist on Mill and Pass changes whenever required
- Keep work area clean
